You will learn how to mix paint colors and basic doll construction that includes an introduction to mohair and rooting. You will learn the basics of how to root the hair on your baby. Bring your own mohair (1/2 oz. minimum) or purchase at workshop.

This class is a perfect introduction to the art form. In this class you will learn to paint a beautiful doll fit for a family heirloom.
The price of this workshop includes everything you will need to complete your baby, although you may need to complete rooting on your own.. Lunches are included so the only things you need to pack are your energy and enthusiasm along with an apron or old shirt if you want to protect your clothing. Of course, you will want to bring a little cap for your baby to wear for his/her newborn photo that will be taken at the end of the workshop.
What is the difference between the 1-day beginning newborning class and this workshop?
- Workshop features a kit with longer limbs
- Workshop focuses on color theory and mixing Genesis paints while the one-day class features pre-mixed paints.
The workshop will feature an adorable, 18"-20" closed-eye doll kit with 3/4 or full-length limbs chosen by the instructor. You will learn how to apply layers of Genesis paint (or similar product) to create lifelike baby skin along with the blushing, creasing, nails and lip color that will make your baby come alive. You will learn basic doll construction and will include an introduction for learning how to micro root the hair on your baby's scalp. (Rooting instructions will be provided to enable the student to finish the job on his/her own at home. Mohair is used as the hair to be rooted to the doll's head.)
NOTE: If you would like to participate in this 2-day workshop, but wish to schedule weekdays other than Saturdays, please tell us which days you prefer. The instructor will schedule workshops on other days for groups of 2-3 students.

Advanced Newborning
This two day class is a continuation of the Beginner Class. Students must have completed at least one Beginner Class to qualify.
In this class you will learn advanced skin mottling techniques, advanced veining, eyelash application for open-eyed dolls, and advanced rooting techniques. You will also learn how to open the nose, use magnets, make pacifiers, belly plates, and tush plates. If you have questions about any advanced techniques, we will find the answers!
This class is somewhat less structured so participants can work at their own pace. You will be working on a doll of your choice. Again, everything you need to make your most realistic baby ever is included. Come join some serious doll makers in a focused, but fun setting!
Cost: TBD
Ethnic (Advanced) Reborning
This class was created to help the more experienced doll maker create a beautiful baby of any ethnicity using Genesis paints.
We can help you create an African American, Native American, Middle Eastern, Hispanic, or Asian baby using formulas that we have developed. The teachers at RAE believe that ethnic color intensity is a personal preference, so whether you want a very lightly colored baby or a baby with deeper tones, we can help you achieve your goal.
This class is arranged to allow you to work at your own pace. You may choose any 19" - 22" doll to work on, and as always, all materials are included. Enjoy a day of discovery and birth!
